This course is absolutely perfect for beginners. Extremely clear and easy to understand, taking you through all of the tools you need in an easy to navigate step by step format. For anyone struggling with Photoshop this is an essential purchase!!! You can learn at your own pace, in your own time and you will be confident in the foundations of Photoshop by the end. Cannot recommend enough.

As someone who’s been using Photoshop for years, I felt I could use a return to the basics and enjoyed That Tog Spot’s YouTube videos, so I purchased this course. I was surprised at how much I learned! Jess leads you through the basics of Photoshop in a clear, concise manner, and the exercises provided help to put what your learn into practice. I would HIGHLY recommend this course for anyone who wants to learn how to use Photoshop.

Jess McGovern’s Photoshop Foundations course is extremely well thought out and beautifully presented. I use Photoshop often, but because the software is wildly complex, I have gaps in my knowledge. This course filled in quite a few of those gaps and I feel like the creative enhancements I envision will soon become reality on my images with more practice. I’m very happy I purchased this.

Although I have used Photoshop for some time now, I have never considered myself very knowledgable when using it (to be honest most of it was guess work). I have even completed other Photoshop courses, but never really learnt much from them. This course has explained things in a very easy to understand way, and I just love Jess’s style of tutoring…really recommend this to anyone.

I have been using photoshop for some time and had just got into a rut with editing. I decided to take the foundation course and I am so happy I did. I thought I had gone past those eureka moments in my life but found myself shouting at the screen “I get it” “ah that’s how to do it” Jess is clear, concise and puts you at ease from the introduction module down to the advanced videos. I completed the course and took notes throughout. The beauty of the foundation course is you can go back and rewatch the videos multiple times. This is without doubt the best money I have spent in a long time and have gained an immense amount of knowledge.

Although I’m well used to photoshop, I found this course very useful. Tips and tricks, and a deeper understanding of why I press exactly “that” button in photo editing. Wish this course existed when I was a beginner. Highly recommended to everyone.

As a brand new user of lightroom and photoshop for photo editing, this course was extremely helpful and well put together. I had tried to tackle both previously with other online tutorials and kept stopping out of frustration as it was just so much to learn. Jess helped by taking it with baby steps and encouragement to tackle each lesson at a time before moving on. Now I feel much more comfortable with the basics, terminology, keyboard short cuts and steps. Still lots to learn but a great start! Jess’s free online tutorials now make sense and are so easy to follow as well. Still lots to learn but I very highly recommend to any one new to Photoshop.

Having had little experience using Photoshop, I thought I would do this course before I doing the workshop later. It really didn’t disappoint. I find I can follow tutorials a lot easier now knowing what Is actually happening. It’s easy to follow a step by step tutorial on YouTube on how to do things, but I felt like I wasn’t ‘learning’ how to do these things, whereas now, I do. Definitely worth doing!

Easy to follow with Jess’s help, learnt a few new things as well. I then went in to sign up for the dog photography course as well. Which is awsome. Thank you so much Jess and team .

Spoiler: the more often you go through the course, the more you will love it!

I have just completed the entire course once more. This time my goal was really deep understanding and taking many extra notes — little bits and pieces here and there that Jess shared within the different lessons. This also means that it took me quite a couple of weeks to go through it, because I limited myself to a maximum of two lessons per day. I really wanted to master each aspect and practice it properly until the steps would come naturally to me, even on my own pictures, not only on the ones provided by Jess within the course.

It was really helpful to ask questions in the MTog Membership Q&A sessions for more clarification and deeper understanding on some aspects. I had previous knowledge of Photoshop, but not photography-retouching-wise. The truth is, this course changed so much for me — my processes and my understanding. I can truly recommend it from the heart!

I went through it the first time and practiced along, but what really made the difference was going through it again after a few weeks, rewatching it and taking a lot of notes. That way I could make sure I understood it in depth and was able to explain it in my own words.

When Jess says to practice the different steps on her course material and on your own images, and you actually do it, you will see the results in your work. Trust her, trust the process of this course. If Photoshop was a puzzle, you would get an incredible image at the end of this course — knowledge-wise you will understand how the different aspects work together. The fun part about this metaphor is that you really do get incredible images by using your knowledge.

That’s about the course. About Jess: you will feel her passion for photography, animals, and teaching! At least for me, this was very contagious. She is super clear in her explanations, and all of them are somehow visually represented. It makes it very easy to follow along and dive deeper into all the aspects.

If you are not a native English speaker, no worries — it’s really easy to understand her. There are subtitles if needed, and if you are still not sure, check out some of her YouTube videos. That’s actually how I found her courses 😉

Personally, I appreciate her way of being and teaching a lot. And even more for being humble, warm-hearted, respectful, and for having great values and ethics while always keeping the safety of everyone in mind during shoots.

Jess, at this point, just a big thank you for everything I’ve learned so far. And I’m really looking forward to the advanced outdoor course!

P.S. I also went through Lightroom for Beginners, which includes many important aspects of the first steps on your images before you get started in Photoshop. I definitely recommend getting both courses.
